Having fun playing with the etching cream.

Its been awhile since I etched something. Mom wanted regular plain salt shakers to fit her napkin holder. So I picked up a couple and my husband just had to question me. So I told him what they were for and then proceded to tell him how I was going to etch S for salt and p for pepper. He had this look on his face like I was the biggest moron he'd seen in quite awhile. He calmly pointed out that they were CLEAR and you could SEE which one was salt and which one was pepper. Good point. But still. I wanted to ETCH... What part of that is so hard to grasp? Any crafter would just go "great idea" but nope. Not my hubs. He has to point out how silly it is. Therefore ruining my fun. But then I seen some more decorative ones for mom and got those instead. They didn't require etching but I'd already purchased the other ones. Then I thought about it. My salt shakers are really tiny and I don't like them. And I collect Old Country Roses --- so I had this brilliant idea to etch roses on them so they'd be pretty sitting out.

Now don't fall over, I got the details of what I used. LOL!
I used the Walk In My Garden Cricut Cartridge and used image on page 98/ Cut out of black vinyl at 2.5" and covered the whole chabang with Armor etch for five minutes and then ran under water. Presto Chango! Pretty shakers. What do you guys think?

Miscellaneous Projects And A Card

I have a confession. Its nothing new to those that follow my blog. But in case you didn't pick up on it, I always forget to note the details of my card such as what stamp, cartridge, or size of paper on the card. I am so sorry! Many stamps that I have are garage sale items etc. So I have no idea who the manufacturer is. But I will do my best to note them when I am able. I don't use fancy solid paper. So you'll just have to go with my blue, green, red, or whatever description at this time. Maybe in a decade when I use up what I already have, I'll get the really good stuff with names like lucious cherry blossom etc. LOL! And as far as the card sizes go, I really had no idea anyone would want to know or reproduce what I make. I am terrible about measuring. Often I just wing it. Which probably shows. HOWEVER its been brought to my attention that it is driving some of you bonkers. Therefore I am going to really really REALLY try to give some deets in the future. And here is what I came up with as a solution to my problem:

Isn't that neat? I used a removable dry erase board surface that I picked up at the dollar tree. So if someone needs to borrow my table I can quickly peel it off. But it will be there to note all my sizes and stuff I am working with. Cool eh?



The other thing thats miscellaneous but I thought I'd share is a sign that I made in a hurry for my mom. Since its vinyled I thought you might be interested. If not, just skip on down. Really simple sign using Plantin Schoolbook cartridge. Cuts are at 2" and 1" respectively. Nothing fancy on the sign. Didn't want to detract from the message I was trying to send. My mom has alot of company and often they just let the gate stay wide open and we've had some pretty close calls with the busy street that we live by. So we hope this will get their attention.




Then lastly is the card that I promised. Its a super simple card that I sent out to a few people as thank you's for their gifts and/or noting how good it was to see them over the holidays. I used Christmas Cheer Cartridge for the tree located on page 10. Cut at 3". Martha Stewart glitter for the swirls. Background paper is from Recollections. The naughty or nice package. Love that one. So many great designs on there. Here is the card:

This has to be my favorite that I did on Christmas Day. Though the pics don't really do them justice. They were so fun to make and I got to bling them up by using different colored gems on each card. Package of six. My SIL loved them.

Not sure if sewing counts but I have sewed a couple things for my little buddy Pikachu. He goes with me almost everywhere and since we live in Oregon, that means its chilly and damp or down right rainy. (Though this year has been remarkably drier than I can remember it ever being) Anyhow, he has to wear some kind of sweater or cover if he's to be out and about or he shakes something fierce. So I've made up a few things for him and will be posting those in the future too. Hope everyone has a safe and happy new years!

Snowman Gift Set

Pretty sure my sister in law doesn't check my blog. But just in case, I cropped the pics to weed out as much of her floor as possible. Ha Ha Ha! This is the snowman card that I made on Christmas Day. Gave to my sister in laws sister. What would that make her? Not a sister... But I see her almost as much as I see my sil. So maybe... :)

Anyways, Recollection stamp for Mr. Frosty. I just love their foam stamp sets. STILL haven't made it out to the craft room since that day to find out the name of the paper pack I used but its from Michaels. And I'll let you know eventually if you care. HOW DO YOU GUYS KEEP UP WITH ALL THE DETAILS to describe what you did and used? Maybe that should be my new years resolution. Write it down!!! But I think I'll be happy with just making it out there to create and leave you hanging on the details from time to time. HA!

Again, I apologize about the dark and random photo of this. But hey, I am posting! Thats the main thing right? This is the continuation from yesterdays post about the card sets I created to give away on Christmas Day. My intention was to do holiday gift cards but to leave the inside blank so they could be used for their thank you's. I wanted to embellish and bling this up but I ran out of time. Hubby literally had the card loaded and running the engine waiting on me. Yikes!

The paper was purchased at Micheals (I will come back and post the manufacturer here in a bit) but I wanted to make sure I at least got this much on here. Recollections for the stamp. LOVE IT!

I did six of these for a "set" to give away for christmas. They were done in a hurry so I didn't have time to get good pics or details for you. Over the next few days I'll be posting the others I did in my wild spree of card making. I was super rushed because I did them a couple hours before we were going to a party. But man, it felt SOOOOO GOOOOOOD to be crafting again.

I won't tell you the state of my craft room at the moment. No, there were not any recorded hurricanes in Oregon. But off the record... I believe one hit my room head on!!!
